NEW THIS YEAR!!

Please be aware that there are changes to the student and project registration procedures and the SRC submission and pre-approval process:

  • All projects need to have an Intent to Participate Google Form submitted. This form will help students determine if a project requires Pre-Approval.
  • Pre-Approval categories have changed — now aligned with ISEF.
    • Microbes and Tissue-Cell Lines have been combined as Potentially Hazardous Biological Agents — PHBA
    • Vertebrate form will now include higher functioning invertebrates
  • The 4 categories that will need pre-approval are as follows:
    • Human Participants
    • Vertebrate and Higher Functioning Invertebrate Animals
    • Potentially Hazardous Biological Agents — PHBA
    • Hazardous Chemicals, Activities, and Devices — HCAD
  • The updated LACSEF Rules and Regulations can be found here

Calling all Science Fair volunteers!

It is the policy of the Los Angeles County Science and Engineering Fair that each participating school must provide adult volunteers (18 years or older) to work for a minimum of two & a half hours (preferably more) during the course of the Science Fair. Volunteers are not restricted to only teachers or parents. Volunteers can also be family members, business associates, neighbors or friends.

The required number of adult volunteers is determined by the number of student entries from your particular school. The breakdown is as follows:

1 to 6 Projects = 1 Volunteers 7 to 13 Projects = 2 Volunteers

Please visit our Volunteer page here and follow the directions that provide step-by-step instructions for the online volunteer registration process. After you register, you will receive your password in email. When you go online to volunteer, you can select the date, time block, and particular task you are comfortable volunteering for. Volunteer Online Registration can be accessed at:

http://app.lascifair.org/

Please make sure to select a date, time and task otherwise your school will not get credit for your volunteering as your registration will be incomplete. You will receive an email confirmation of your selection(s), as well as a password that can be used along with your email to log back into the online registration system to make any revisions. Please be aware that should the number of volunteers exceed a particular task requirement, it may be necessary for the Volunteer Coordinator to adjust assignments. If you volunteer to help at the Awards Program, 2 seats will be saved for you and you may return to your seat while your student is on stage.

Volunteers will receive final confirmation and any additional information via email the week prior to the Science Fair, scheduled for March 9–10, 2025, at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Center. Please note that at this time the Science Fair will not validate parking for volunteers. Parking information will be sent out with the final email confirmation prior to the Fair.
